As well as your usual stores, Aberystwyth has some great local shops which you just wouldn't find anywhere else. As a student you'll get some huge discounts around the town's clothes and gift shops; so remember to pick up an NUS extra card as you can use it in your home town too.

Whatever your taste you'll find a clothes or gift shop to suit your style down to a tee! And if you fancy something a little bit different, have a look around these...

Clothes

For the girlies: Gusto is a little clothes shop which stocks some of the same brands as Topshop, such as a Motel and Killer at great prices. You'll only find Pretty Flamingo in a town like Aberystwyth. It has some of the most unusual punk and burlesque style clothing you will ever see. Polly's have three different stores, each with their own style, from organic and fair-trade clothing, to totally rave! Dandy Wolf is always worth a visit when planning a night out.

For the blokes: Café Society stocks mainstream brands for both casual and smart wear. Animal is the always popular student shop, especially for all your must-have beach wear. Clives has been in Aberystwyth for years, you're bound to find some smart clothing for the May Ball but also good quality clothing at reasonable prices.

And saving the best till last: Stars - where you're bound to spend at least one day a week searching for the craziest, funniest and sexiest fancy dress costume in Aberystwyth. It really is a student's favourite.

Gifts

In Aberystwyth there are some lovely gift shops to find something for everyone. In Kraxi you are bound to see something your mum will love, including London brand Radley bags. A student town wouldn't be complete without Argos, Waterstones, Clinton Cards as well as those random gadget shops. Here are two shops we recommend for all types of gifts:
