Student Welcome Desk

Your first point of contact for any query or concern our Student Welcome Desk can:

  • Give you directions around campus
  • Provide you with contact details for departments and staff
  • Make you an appointment with a member of  the  Student Support team
  • Forward your email query to the appropriate member of the Student Support team if you are unsure who to contact
  • Make you an appointment for a Study Needs Assessment
  • If you think you may have a learning difference we can make you an appointment for an informal screening session or help you find an Educational Psychologist for a more formal assessment

Student Advice and Information

The Student Advice and Information Service provides information, advice, support and referral on a wide range of issues. For example, we can:

  • Provide a listening ear on any worry or concern and signpost you to specialist services  both within the University or elsewhere
  • Provide advice on managing your money
  • Check you are receiving the correct amount of funding
  • Help you complete application forms for a range of student funding
  • Provide you with information about University rules and regulations including academic regulations or harassment
  • Advise you on withdrawal or change of course
  • Advise you on what to do if unforeseen circumstances affect your studies
  • Advise you about the range of activities available in residences during Welcome Week
  • Advise you about the range of activities available for international students

If you are unsure about where to go for advice or assistance please contact us.  No issue is too big, too small or too stupid.  Our service is confidential, non-judgemental and free of charge.  We have a drop in service Monday to Friday between 2pm-4pm. You can also make an appointment with an Adviser for times between 9am-3pm daily by contacting our Student Welcome Desk.
