Summary of courses and services

We offer a range of courses and services across the university for enhancing your study experience. Our courses further the development of good academic practices through the use of critical techniques in:

  • academic writing
  • communicating in seminars
  • working with lectures
  • revision and exams
  • information management

Alongside our free courses and individual consultations, we also coordinate a range of credit-bearing undergraduate modules and other specific programmes that you may be involved with via your academic department. We also offer research training in collaboration with the Office of Postgraduate studies.

Currently courses listed in this site are only available through the medium of English, except for individual consulations with the RLF Writing Fellowship scheme, which are also available through the medium of Welsh.

 Writing, communication, information and professional skills courses

  • Undergraduate (this programme is available in both semesters and is offered in collaboration with Information Services and Careers Advisory Service)

20 seminars in academic writing, communicating in seminars, working with lectures, information management, online and library based research, professional development portfolio planning (PDP)

The Writers are based in C28 Llandinam Building

Actual days will be subject to change and consultations are offered at the discretion of the Writers. The RLF Writing Fellowship Scheme does not offer a proof reading service or language tuition and each consultation is an advisory session to help with writing and study issues. Consultations are limited to one initial appointment and are not automatically offered on a repeat basis.

Effective Communication in Management and Business (ECMB)

This is a two semester course that is only available to MBA, MSc Management and MSc Accounting students at the School of Management and Business. It works with writing, communication and appropriate use of language for postgraduate business studies.
