    1. Not allowed to return to University.
    2. Allowed to return to University to continue their studies subject to the provision of a satisfactory financial guarantee.

  2. The Registrar shall inform the student of the decision reached by the Faculty Examining Board. The letter should also inform the student that he or she has a right of appeal to the APC and that the appeal must be made in writing so as to reach the Registrar not later than fourteen days after the date of the Registrars' letter, and the following statement should be included in this letter:

"Students should note that they are entitled to appeal against the decision of the Faculty Examining Board. Any appeal against a decision must be sent in writing to the Registrar so as to reach him not later than fourteen days after the date of this letter. The University is only prepared to consider appeals which are based on exceptional personal circumstances not known at the time of the examination by the Department or Faculty Examining Board concerned and which can be shown to have adversely affected a candidates' examination performance.

Appeals will only be considered by the University if a student can provide good reasons why the grounds for appeal were not made known to the relevant Departmental or Faculty Examining Board before it made its decision.

Students are entitled to seek verification of the fact that relevant circumstances which might have adversely affected their examination performance and which had been previously notified to departments were taken into account by the Examining Boards concerned".

Upon receipt of an appeal the Registrar shall ask the Chair of the Examining Board to verify the facts to which the application refers. The Chair shall ensure that these are verified in time to be presented to the Academic Progress Committee.

Following receipt of an appeal the Registrar shall write to ask the student whether he or she wishes to appear in person before the Academic Progress Committee, and if so, whether he or she wishes to be accompanied by a person of his/her choice, for example a fellow student (enrolled student) or a Sabbatical Officer of the Students' Guild or a member of the academic staff.

If that person is acting as a legal representative, then the University must be informed at least three working days before the date of the Committee.
