Get Involved With Sustainability at Aberystwyth!

A key commitment in our policies is to provide opportunities for everyone to be involved in Sustainability. There is something for everyone, including you, with lots of different ways to get involved. Whether you want to volunteer a tiny bit of time, or dive right in, we'll definitely have something for you!

For students, this may help you to build your CV, gain extra-curricular skills and altogether enhance your employability. For staff, you can learn new skills, meet like-minded people and be directly involved in improving the University's overall environmental performance through projects like Green Impact. Above all, it's a chance to have some fun!

There are many ways in which you can get involved in sustainability at the Aberystwyth. The level of involvement is entirely up to you. The main ways you can contribute and get involved are highlighted below. For on-going updates of our events and opportunities please follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

Green Impact

This is an environmental accreditation scheme aimed at empowering individuals across campus to form 'green teams'. These teams can be as little as two people and can cover an office, a floor, or even entire buildings. Each green team completes a workbook of environmental actions to improve the performance of their work area to aim for Bronze, Silver or Gold accreditation.

Volunteering opportunities

There are a number of ways to work with and engage with sustainability whilst studying at the university. The Green Impact scheme offers opportunities for staff and students in both project management and environmental auditing, and interested persons can email sustainability@aber.ac.uk for more info. Students can also get involved with the NUS Live Greener campaigns (Student Switch Off, Blackout and Green Impact), attempting to make the university campus and halls of residence more sustainable, there are loads of different things you can do even within this campaign, from auditing behaviour to taking a funny picture to leading a whole team of like-minded students, and they all will look great on your CV! Follow our twitter and facebook pages to keep up to date with what we're doing and learn about exciting opportunities for you!
