Travel and Transport
Travel and Transport at Aberystwyth
With over 10,000 students and staff, Aberystwyth recognises the role transport can have on negatively influencing the environment. Consequently, Aberystwyth has invested heavily into improving the local infrastructure for walking and cycling to, from, and between campuses, as well as bike storage and shower facilities (Bike Racks & Showers Map). Additionally, the the university works closely with Mid Wales Travel to provide the cheapest means of local, environmentally friendly public transport (get your discounted bus pass here). Further to our commitment to maintain this investment, we're also trying to change behaviours and engage people in environmental issues, which will hopefully encourage less car use and more walking and cycling!
You can help us make the case for improved walking and cycling infrastructure, and also win some great prizes, by filling out the survey below!
Getting Involved with Sustainable Travel
There are plenty of ways to get involved with sustainable travel transport in Aber besides just walking or cycling to uni. The university runs its own cycle hire scheme to help you get around campus quickly, healthily and sustainable. The town also hosts a massive, mufti-day annual cycle festival with plenty of events and opportunities to get involved with! There is also the cycle shop in town where you can buy or repair your bike. Keep looking out for events run by the sustainability team to engage people in sustainable travel as well!
