We asked Abi, "What's the best thing you've done on your degree course?"

In my second year, I performed a physical theatre piece in Advanced Production Project. It helped me incredibly, as I learned from the training how to realise my potential as an actor so that I could possess the present moment in its entirety and convince an audience of the energy and force of my physical presence. The production was staged for two nights in a fully equipped departmental studio space to a live and varied audience and advertised through the Aberystwyth Art Centre programme. The whole experience was really positive and it has taught me how to watch and analyse a physical theatre performance by having personal, concrete experience of the techniques and methodologies used in such work.

We asked Ashley, 'What's the best thing you've done on your degree course?'

The best thing I did was to choose a variety of different modules for study. Rather than focusing on either the practical aspects or the academic, more theoretical aspects of study, I chose a mixture of these modules and the skills that I learnt on the one hand were of a great help to me when working on the other. As a result, every day of my University career was different and exciting.

We asked Heledd, 'What's the best thing you've done on your degree course?'

In my second year I got the opportunity to work on the international, bilingual detective television series, ‘Hinterland’ in the editing department with Sara Parry Jones. It was enthralling gaining privileged access to the world of the programme, its sets, filming locations, actors, scripts and editing and producing processes. It was a great experience in the context of employability and I was inspired to prepare for the world of work that awaits me beyond my time at University.

What was the best thing you did on your degree course?

The best thing I've done, is to be open minded within my degree, and this has allowed me to be taken places which I would have never have considered. My degree has been a journey of discovery academically and I have also grown as an individual in so many ways.

We asked Rami, "What was the best thing you did on your degree course?"

There have been a couple of things that have stood out for me the most about this degree scheme. The first I feel I have to say would be the passion and knowledge of staff delivering the theoretical elements of the provision, teachers are so keen on what they study and they teach it in such an engaging way that you can't help but be interested; it really rubbed off on my practical work.

The second thing would have to be the product research placement module in my second year, no other aspect of this degree has been more practical to my career as a filmmaker/media individual than that module. I was encouraged not only to learn how to develop CVs and covering letters but enabled to obtain a placement in the industry and get first hand industry experience. The module also provided tens of lectures from people within the industry about various roles and professions - truly the most practically valuable side of the degree hands down.
