10 June 2017
On Saturday 10 June, Professor David Ian Rabey presented a paper at London South Bank's BFI theatre, as part of a symposium focussing on Penda's Fen, the most renowned television play by David Rudkin, subject of Rabey's 1997 monograph David Rudkin: Sacred Disobedience (Routledge), and Honorary Departmental Professor:
A programme of the symposium can be found here.
Meanwhile, Rabey's play The Contracting Sea (first staged 2004) received its Maltese premiere 8-10 June, in a production directed by Nenad Aleksovski, and performed in the shell of a previously derelict building, La Splendide, which appropriately looks out to sea.
