How To Apply - MA Applicants
Making an application for a place
The deadline for making an application to any of our MA programmes is 15 August if you are self-funded, although early applications are recommended as places may fill up quickly.
You can apply online or by post. Simply visit the Postgraduate Admissions Office website to download the relevant forms or submit your online application.
Applicants must hold or expect to gain at least a 2.1 undergraduate award (or equivalent overseas qualification) in cognate subject areas. Students may alternatively be able to show evidence of relevant equivalent qualifications and/or professional work experience. (Such entry would be provisional upon, for instance, a portfolio of professional work and an extended interview.) All applicants to the MA Practising Performance will be interviewed.
Non-native English speakers are required to take a University recognised test of academic English language proficiency with required minimum proficiency levels equating to an IELTS score of 7.0 or a TOEFL score of 610 (paper based test) or 250 (computer based) with an essay rating of 5.5. Applicants who have successfully undertaken a Bachelors degree in a UK University are exempt from this requirement.
Making a funding application
Funding for Masters schemes is scarce and therefore very competitive. You are advised to contact our Research and Postgraduate Administrator, Ceris Medhurst –Jones ekj@aber.ac.uk as soon as possible with details of your country of origin, qualifications, age and other relevant details and, based on your individual circumstances, she may be able to offer further advice on funding sources. Deadlines are often in January or even in the Autumn before your intended date of entry so the earlier you contact us the better your chances of finding an appropriate funding opportunity.
We are aware that applications for masters funding are highly competitive, and only the very best applications have any chance of succeeding. Getting such applications right takes time, and typically, funding applications go through many revisions before being ready for submission. Therefore it is vital that planning and work on these begins early.
