MSN Travel have voted Aberystwyth as the best University Town or City in Wales and 8th in the UK.
They recognise that choosing a university is about more than just a great education, “it’s about selecting a home away from home.”
In their own words, the MSN Travel top ranking is based on universities that offer students the whole package: “great sights, sounds and activities, good value, the most riotous nightlife and all-round atmosphere.”

Aberystwyth is voted the best student town in the UK
Aberystwyth has recently been voted the UK’s top student town for community spirit and facilities according to the findings of a survey published on accommodationforstudents.com.
The findings are based on over 36,000 student reviews from 56 university towns around the UK. Students were asked to rate (out of 10) their university locations across five criteria:
- Going out (restaurants, pubs and clubs)
- Shops (supermarkets, corner shops, book shops and video shops)
- Transport links (buses, trams, train and underground)
- Community (safety, student population and surroundings)
- Facilities (gyms, libraries and parks)
Of the five categories, Aberystwyth was voted the top student town for community and facilities.
