Student Profiles
Emily Wells-Pratt, English Literature, Pennsylvania
How easy was it to settle in at Aberystwyth?
Very easy because everyone is so helpful. If I was confused I knew I could ask somebody and they’d help me out. I think everyone’s very supportive especially a lot of the international students since a lot of us don’t know what we’re doing. I just found that the atmosphere here is really great.
What is the department like and what do you like best about the course?
All of the professors really know their stuff they’re very educated and very interested in academics. You can tell that it definitely bleeds over into the students, and they’re all also very passionate about their work. It’s nice to be in such an academic atmosphere it definitely fosters research and learning.
What is the social life like here?
It’s great. I’ve met so many nice people and I find that a lot of us can just go and get chicken and chips, and just go hang out and talk, go to the pier. There seems to be a lot of international students, and all of us have something different to bring to the table, about our cultures. A lot of talking and chatting about cultures etc. It’s really nice.
Would you recommend Aberystwyth to others?
I would definitely recommend it to people in my own programme of study, I’ve found that it’s really beneficial the English programme is great. So I would definitely tell people that if you are interested in English literature that this is the place to be. The professors love it, the students love it and it’s a really nice atmosphere.
