Student Profiles
Amanda Regan, Geography, Devon
Was it to settle into studying at Aberystwyth?
Definitely, everybody’s really friendly, it’s a very small community so everyone knows everyone, and gets on.
What is the department like?
The geography department I find, in comparison with others from what I’ve heard from people I live with doing different courses, to me is the best department. It’s well-run it’s the biggest one, the amount of lecturers who are at the top of their game is unbelievable. It’s a real privilege to be part of the department.
What are the academic facilities like?
We’ve just had a brand new suite of computers they’re absolutely everywhere, and they’re all 15” flat screen brilliant – easy to see, easy to access, and there’s the National Library as well.
What is the social life like?
Amazing! Depends what type of club you’re in, but I know from personal experience in the hockey club social life in particular, your social life revolves around the hockey club, and generally, most of the sports teams are pretty good. There are two night clubs down in town, there are a range of bars, and I know that particularly since the 24hour licenses have been introduced, they’re a lot more busier now!
