Why did you choose to study at Aberystwyth?
I wanted to live in a beautiful place, and by the beach. Being from the Midlands I don’t see much of that. It’s really nice living by the beach, with fresh air, away from the city.
How easy was it to settle in at Aberystwyth?
Really easy. I wasn’t too worried when I came, and when I did arrive, everyone was really friendly, and accommodating. I enjoyed it as soon as I arrived.
What is the department like and what do you like best about the course?
All the staff are really accommodating, they’re really friendly, if I’ve ever had a problem I’ve been able to send an email and had a quick response, and sort out any problems. I’ve also been able to go see the lecturers at their offices. There’s loads of facilities to help you with the course.
What are the sporting facilities like?
Sports are really good at Aber, they’re fantastic. There’s so much to do, so much going on, in so many ways. I joined quite a few clubs originally I’m just doing netball now, but they’re all really helpful, and everyone’s really friendly. It isn’t cliquey. They do like a huge super teams where all the sports clubs get together to form teams and compete against each other in a range of sports. It’s a real social event.
What is the social life like here?
It’s good. In comparison to cities, you haven’t got so much choice, but then there’s just enough choice to get you by. The clubs are very good, I’ve never had a bad night out! The Union is good as well, the amount it puts on for the Freshers. Second year you tend to get into the town.
Would you recommend Aberystwyth to others?
Definitely. It’s a great place. It’s a really nice place to live. Really good facilities, the lecturers, all the University and sports. It’s spot on.
