Student Profiles
Hannah Polland, Psychology & English Literature, Pembrokeshire
What is the department like and what do you like best about the course?
As soon as I started studying last year I just fell in love with the subject, it is just such an interesting subject; the modules that I have chosen are very interesting and very stimulating, plus the way that they teach you is very thought provoking. They give you the material and you are able to go away and start to think about the subjects we were studying.
What are the academic facilities like?
The library is laid out in such a way that it is very easy to find a book. Sometimes you will find that the book that you need is on loan, but the great thing about studying at Aberystwyth is that there is the National Library of Wales so you can always go there and use a book there every time.
What are the cultural facilities like i.e. Arts Centre, theatre, cinema?
The Arts centre is a really beautiful building – I use it for the food because they always have really great food. I have heard that the theatres have a great selection of plays although I haven’t used it for that yet!
Would you recommend Aberystwyth to others?
Aberystwyth is a wonderful place, you can always go down to the seaside and not just have to think about your subject all the time! It’s a place for reflection – which sounds so silly but it’s true. The people that I have met here are great and I would 100% recommend coming here. If you are thinking about it come to an Open Day and have a think because it is a great place to be.
