Lifelong Learning
Lifelong Learning at Aberystwyth
Lifelong Learning is a time-honoured priority for Aberystwyth University, whose mission has always been to serve the lifelong learning needs of its local community, as well as offering first class higher education to all comers. Many students take advantage of lifelong learning opportunities in addition to those which make up their degree scheme. The School of Education and Lifelong Learning at Aberystwyth offers a broad range of courses designed to suit a wide variety of tastes and aspirations. Some full and part-time students choose courses because they are aiming to gain extra qualifications: others study in order to pursue interests beyond the scope of their degree.
Lifelong Learning Programme
The School’s Lifelong Learning Programme is designed to be flexible and progressive and is open to all. Courses are available in the daytime and evenings, weekdays and weekends. There are also residential and day schools. Courses are held in Laura Place, the Old College, and on the Penglais Campus. There is also an extensive programme of classes throughout the counties of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Powys and southern Gwynedd.
The Lifelong Learning Programme consists of accredited courses through the medium of Welsh and English. Courses use a range of flexible assessment methods and credits may be accumulated to achieve higher education certificates and diplomas by the University. Credits may also be transferable with other providers of higher education. Concessionary fees are available to people in full-time education.
