Psychology and English Literature degree course structure

Year 1

In the first year of your degree in Psychology and English Literature, you will study the following core modules, which lay the basis for all your future studies:

English:

  • Encountering Texts
  • Aspects of Genre

Psychology:

  • Introduction to Psychology: Investigation and Communication
  • Perspectives on Social and Individual Behaviour
  • Perspectives on Psychobiology and Cognition

Years 2+3

In the second and third years of your degree in Psychology and English Literature, there is greater flexibility, as you develop your skills and focus your interests.

In Year 2, you take the following core modules:

English:

  • Reading Theory/Reading Text and two of:
    • Medieval and Renaissance Writing
    • Nineteenth Century Literature
    • Restoration & Eighteenth Century Literature
    • Twentieth Century British Literature

Psychology: 

  • Social Psychology
  • Research Methods in Psychology
  • Brain and Behaviour

Then, as your progress into your third year, there is much more opportunity to choose from an excellent and fascinating range of option modules in both subjects
