Spanish degrees at Aberystwyth University

Degrees in Spanish from Aberystwyth are available in three formats, with different subject weightings:

  • Joint Honours Spanish degrees:
    • 50% Spanish and 50% another language or subject
  • Major/Minor Spanish degrees: either
    • 66% Spanish and 33% another language or subject or
    • 33% Spanish and 66% another language or subject

All students of Spanish degrees take compulsory modules in Spanish language (including composition, translation, comprehension and oral). In addition you choose non-language modules from a range of options which is largely modern in emphasis. The third year of your Spanish degree is spent in one or more Spanish-speaking countries. Students of Aberystwyth's Spanish degree courses also have the opportunity to take modules in the Spanish of contemporary current affairs and business usage. available.

Within the Department of European Languages, Spanish is available in the following combinations:

  • Spanish and French 50/50
  • Spanish and German 50/50
  • Spanish with French 66/33
  • Spanish with German 66/33
  • French with Spanish 66/33
  • German with Spanish 66/33
  • European Languages (ie French, German, Italian and Spanish in varying percentages)
  • Romance Languages (ie French, Italian and Spanish in varying percentages)
