This European Politics degree scheme combines a general background in international affairs with a specific focus on European politics. But the Aberystwyth European Politics degree also looks beyond the role of the nation-states to examine attempts by non-state nations and regions to develop political autonomy. It examines, also, how European politics affects politics both in the UK as a whole and in the different nations which make it up.
By the end of the European Politics degree students should possess: an awareness and understanding of key issues and debates in contemporary European politics; a general understanding of the major issues, approaches and debates in International Politics; and specific expertise in areas of European politics in which they have chosen to specialise.
