European Studies (Joint Honours)
RR19 - European Studies with French
RR29 - European Studies with German
RR49 - European Studies with Spanish
These four-year degree schemes are inter-disciplinary in nature, with a European focus throughout. By your final year you will have an in-depth knowledge of: the historical evolution of Europe; the development of contemporary political, economic and social structures in Europe; and key debates and issues for the future of Europe, within different intellectual and political perspectives. Students are also required to meet the specific aims and objectives of the individual modules they select.
This degree scheme includes intensive study in French, German or Spanish. Language study in the Department of European Languages constitutes one-third of the scheme. The remainder is made up of core modules in European Politics, plus a wide range of optional modules offered by departments in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Arts. This enables you to learn more about the aspects of Europe that most interest you. As an integral part of this degree, you will spend one academic year (normally the third year of your degree) abroad at one of our partner universities, studying in your specialist foreign language.
