Joint Honours Programmes

Students can opt to combine International Politics with other subjects in two ways. One is a conventional joint honours degree. This enables students to take 50% of their options in International Politics and 50% in another subject. This kind of degree allows students with an interest in two subjects to combine them into a coherent degree scheme.

Joint honours degrees are offered in International Politics and the following: Drama (LW24), Economic and Social History (LVF3), English (LQF3), Film and Television Studies (LW26), French (LRF1), (LL7F*), German (LRF2), History (LVF1), (VLD2*), Human Geography (LLR2), Information and Library Studies (PL12), Performance Studies (LW2K), Psychology (CL82), Spanish (LRF4), Welsh (LQF5*), Welsh History (LV21), (VL12*)

* Denotes courses taught wholly or partly through the medium of Welsh.

Major/Minor Programmes

The second option is to take a Major/Minor degree whereby you pursue an intensive course of study in one subject, yet still combine this with another subject. Students spend up to two-thirds of their time in their Major department and one-third of their time in the Minor department.

International Politics can be selected as the Major subject with the following: Economics (L2L1), Film and Television Studies (LWG6*) French (L2R1), German (L2R2), Information Management (L2P1), Law (L2M1), Spanish (L2R4).

Students who would like to consider a Major degree in International Politics but are unsure which subject to select as their minor component, should apply for L240 (International Politics – Major). This degree scheme allows students to select their Minor subject when they register.

International Politics can be selected as the Minor subject with the following: Economics (L1LF), French (R1L2), German (R2L2), Marketing (N5L2), Spanish (R4L2)

* Denotes course taught wholly or partly through the medium of Welsh.
