The Applied Mathematics degree schemes seek to stimulate interest up to the frontiers of modern knowledge, where new problems that demand applied mathematical investigation arise on the cosmological, atmospheric, laboratory and elementary particle scales. Our Applied Mathematics degrees are Joint Honours schemes: that is to say you will study 50% Applied Mathematics and 50% either Pure Mathematics or Statistics. By choosing to study for a degree in Applied Mathematics, you can also study specialist modules in fluid dynamics and numerical analysis. Aberystwyth has one of the leading groups in the UK in rheology and computational fluid dynamics, and has a close working relationship with industry, so that awareness of the career opportunities related to your Applied Mathematics will be an integrated part of your course.
