BSc Mathematics Degree

The BSc general Mathematics degree offers you an excellent grounding in the three Mathematical disciplines. The course is flexibly structured, so that in your third year you can specialise in the discipline that most interests you or continue to a broadly based multi-disciplinary Mathematics degree. Then there is the option to progress and specialise further in the four year MMath Mathematics degree.

BSc Mathematics: degree structure:

Year 1

The first year of your BSc Mathematics degree includes the following core modules:

  • Algebra and Calculus
  • Coordinate and Vector Geometry
  • Probability
  • Mathematical Analysis
  • Differential Equations
  • Statistics

Years 2+3

In Year 2 Core modules cover topics including:

  • Real, Numerical and Complex Analysis
  • Abstract and Linear Algebra
  • Distributions, Estimation and Sampling
  • Mathematical Physics

In Year 3, in consultation with the tutors who have taught you so far, you will choose froma wide range of elective modules to suit your own interests.
