Tuition Fees

Tuition fees cover the cost of your study at university. Fees include charges for things like your tuition, examinations and graduation.

You can get loans and grants to help you pay your tuition fees and living costs; our Student Loan Section has more information regarding what loans and grants you may be eligible for.

See https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/undergrad/fees-finance/scholarships/non-eu/ for details and conditions.

Tuition fees for Home/EU undergraduates are regulated by the Welsh Government and the UK Government. The University will amend all Home/EU undergraduate Tuition Fees in line with any alteration advised by the Welsh Government and UK Government. Any alterations in these regulated fees will affect both existing and new students.

The fee rates listed above are for fees in 2016/17 only. The University expects that the UK Government will allow tuition fees will rise by a modest amount in future years to take account of inflationary pressures for subsequent years. For subsequent years of study please assume a 3% inflationary increase year-on-year.

The fees increase will allow for a combination of factors, and the rise will not necessarily be the same as the published UK rate of inflation (the Consumer Price Index) in the year. This is because UK rate of inflation is just one of many factors considered when setting the annual fee policy.

2018-19

UK/EU Students

Tuition fees for Home/EU undergraduate and PGCE study from 2018/19 are currently under governmental review in England and Wales.

Based on the latest information available to us, for new Home/EU students enrolled on full-time undergraduate and PGCE courses starting in 2018, Aberystwyth University currently intends to charge a tuition fee of £9,250 for the academic year 2018/19. However, subject to the outcome of reviews and subsequent government regulations, our tuition fees for these students for any successive years of their study may rise, mapped according to the inflation-linked maximum tuition fee permitted by the Welsh Government. These increases would also apply for the proportional fees charged for Year Abroad and Year in Industry.

It is anticipated that the regulatory changes being considered by the Welsh Government will be finalised in December 2017. We will inform all applicants and students of the fee levels for 2018/19 and any inflation-linked increases for successive years of study as soon as confirmation is received from Welsh Government, and will publish updates [on this page]. You should check the updated fee information on this page before applying. Up to date details of the relevant fees will be set out in our offer documentation, and your terms and conditions with us will describe how we may be entitled to increase or otherwise change fees during the period of your study with us.

As required to do so, the University is submitting a revised 2018/19 Fee & Access Plan to the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) for approval to increase the current full-time Home/EU undergraduate fee level from 2018/19 to £9,250 with subsequent inflation linked rises mapped according to the inflation-linked maximum tuition fee permitted by Welsh Government.
