Student Loans
Students from England
- Loan for living costs from the Government/Local Education Authority - you can take out a loan of up to £5,500 if you live away from home. The precise amount you are entitled to depends on an assessment of your household income.
- Loan for fees from the Government – a fee loan of up to £9,000 is available. This loan is not means-tested.
- Remember you don't have to repay any loan until you have completed your studies and you are earning at least £21,000. The level of your repayments are based on earnings, not the amount borrowed.
Students from Northern Ireland
- Loan for living costs from Student Finance NI - you can take out a loan of up to £4,840 if you live away from home. The precise amount you are entitled to depends on an assessment of your household income.
- Loan for fees from Student Finance NI – a fee loan of up to £9,000 is available. This loan is not means-tested.
- Remember you don't have to repay any loan until you have completed your studies and you are earning at least £15,795. The level of your repayments are based on earnings, not the amount borrowed.
