Schools and Colleges Liaison Service

The Schools and Colleges Liaison Team are closely involved with advising potential students, teachers and careers advisers, as well as parents, on all aspects of applying to, and studying in higher education. We have a varied programme of talks, presentations and workshops given by school liaison staff and members of academic departments, which take place from September to July each academic year. Our service meets the needs of students of all ages and is UK wide. We can also arrange group visits from schools and colleges to the University and are pleased to attend individual school/college events during the day or evening. We regularly attend Higher Education Conventions and Careers Fairs in all parts of Britain and are always pleased to discuss any aspects of studying and living at Aberystwyth with staff and students on these occasions. Wales Summer University

The University of Aberystwyth, in partnership with the University of Lampeter have launched a major new widening access programme for young people in schools and colleges (normally Year 12), known as the Wales Summer University. The universities work with schools across Wales to identify young people who have under-achieved academically and provide them with an opportunity to spend the Summer holiday in either Aberystwyth or Lampeter.

Schools and Colleges in Mid Wales

Our Centre for Widening Participation and Social Inclusion works in partnership with schools and colleges in our region to deliver curriculum enhancement activities such as 'Extra' Science and 'Extra' Art. We are also able to take up to 10 pupils per school in Mid and West Wales who are predicted not to achieve a grade C at GCSE in their core subjects for an intensive residential Easter course at Aberystwyth.
