Debra manages the Centre. She works on Widening Access projects (schools, colleges and adults) and is the main point of contact at the University for those from a care, young carer or 'estranged' / unsupported background.
She has worked at the University since 2005: lecturing, Projects' Coordinator for the Centre to 2011, then taking over as Manager. She has a BSc (I, Hons) from University of London (Royal Holloway) in Geology / Environmental Science, a BA from the OU (Research Methods / Maths), MSc (dist) in Mining Geology (Exeter) and a PhD in Forensic Geoscience (London, 2003). Debra has also completed a PGC Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Science Workshop Facilitator
Rachel is responsible for delivering Royal Society of Chemistry ‘Spectroscopy in a suitcase’ workshops to schools within the area. This allows pupils to gain hands on experience of using infra-red and UV/Vis spectrophotometers which are not normally available in schools. She delivers the Biochemistry module for our Summer University and also delivers primary school workshops to local schools.
Rachel has a BSc in Molecular biology (I,Hons) from Cardiff University and completed her PGDE in ‘Biology with Balanced science’ with Aberystwyth University in 2010. In addition to her role at Aberystwyth University, Rachel also teaches in a local secondary school.

Widening Access Project Co-Ordinator

Hannah works for the Centre in the role of Widening Access Project Co-Ordinator, and is responsible for managing projects such as Options Explorer and Summer University, as well as other shorter term projects.
Hannah began working for the Centre as a student in 2009, before becoming Centre Administrator and subsequently Schools Outreach Tutor after graduating.
She left CWPSI in 2013 to work as International Exchanges Officer in the Study Abroad Office, but rejoined the team in 2015 as Schools Widening Access Outreach Tutor. She has since taken over the role of Widening Access Project Co-Ordinator.
Hannah graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BScEcon (I, Hons) in International Politics/Intelligence Studies in 2011, and graduated in 2013 with an MSc (Merit) in Glaciology.
Robin is the Administrative Officer for the Centre for Widening Participation and Social Inclusion. He helps facilitate the day-to-day operation of the Centre whilst assisting Debra and Hannah with fulfilling and managing their projects by providing clerical and administrative support.
Robin’s previous experience in administration was with Ceredigion County Council before leaving to attend University. Robin graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BA in English Literature / Film and Television Studies in 2015. After graduating, he completed a TEFL course and went to teach English in Prague before returning home to Aberystwyth to work with CWPSI in 2018.
