Mentro Iaith

Mentro Iaith was an all-Wales Reaching Wider initiative led by the W&MWWAP and was fully operational between 2008 and 2010.  It was consistent with the target of increasing the number of students studying all or part of their degree through the medium of Welsh. 

Its aim was assisting prospective students to overcome the real and perceived barriers that prevent them from progressing to Welsh medium higher education (HE).  This was achieved by giving young people the chance to meet mentors who were ‘real life’ undegraduates studying an element of their course through the medium of Welsh.  In addition to the ‘face to face’ meeting, young people were able to e-mail any questions relating to Welsh medium HE to a designated mentor.
