Student Employment as Student Leaders
As well as our University staff (full time, part-time and sessional), the Centre for Widening Participation and Social Inclusion employs a wide pool of current undergraduate and postgraduate students to work on our projects each year as Student Leaders. They act as role models and mentors, providing assistance and support for School-aged young people, or to support tutors in the community. All of our Leaders are interviewed, referenced, trained and complete a Disclosure for Vetting and Barring. We also offer additional First Aid training and a personal development plan.
For the Students it provides numerous and varied opportunities throughout the year to improve their skills, both in the University and out at schools, colleges and community locations. For those wanting to pursue teaching, youth or social work, or explore the possibilities of doing this, it is especially valuable and it enables them to enhance their C.V. and skills in this area - essential for postgraduate work and employment.
