Additional information

Conference Venue

The university enjoys a stunning location on the west coast of Wales at Aberystwyth. The Conference will be held on the campus at the top of Penglais Hill, overlooking the historic town and Cardigan Bay.

Conference Structure

We anticipate that around 20 delegates will participate in the conference. All sessions will be held in the Penbryn Residence Building (no. 15 on the campus map).

Registration

Delegate registration fees include attendance at all academic sessions, tea/coffee, lunches, evening meals and accommodation during the conference, as well as the drinks reception and Conference Dinner on Thursday evening.

All persons planning to attend the conference are requested to register and pay the appropriate conference fee before 4 July 2008.  Participation at Our Inner Animal conference will be recognised after payment of the registration fee. Delegates registering after 4 July 2008 will incur a late booking fee.

Conference Registration will be in Penbryn Residence (no. 15 on your map) from 8.30am on Thursday 11 September 08

University Accommodation
The Conference Office is able to offer en-suite university accommodation on the main Penglais Campus. Rooms are offered on a first-come-first-served basis with those rooms closest to the Conference venue being allocated first. Please note that the rooms are located on ground, first and second floors with no lift. The campus is on a hill, and steep slopes connect some facilities - delegates with mobility difficulties should contact the University in advance to discuss their individual requirements. To reserve accommodation, delegates should complete and return the relevant sections of the booking form by 4 July 2008; payment should accompany the booking.

All campus accommodation is supplied with bed linen and towels. En-suite rooms have private bathroom facilities (shower, wash hand basin and WC). All accommodation has access to tea/coffee making facilities. Please note there are no double or twin rooms available. Delegates wishing to be accommodated in adjacent rooms should indicate this on the booking form.

Catering

Catering throughout the Conference will be provided in Penbryn.

Transport

For delegates travelling to Aberystwyth by public transport there is a good road and rail network; Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff airports are within 2½ hours drive. There are good local buses and taxis within the town providing regular services between the town and Penglais Campus. Travel details can be supplied with confirmation of booking if requested. Further information is available on the University website at www.aber.ac.uk/visitors.

Parking

Parking is free of charge on campus (with the exception of the Arts Centre) providing a valid Car Parking permit is displayed in the vehicle at all times whilst on campus.  There are parking spaces at all almost all halls of residence and on campus.  A permit will be enclosed with your confirmation

Personal Internet Access

Many delegates who attend residential conferences request internet or email access during their stay and unfortunately the University system is not configured for them to gain access from their laptop.  The Conference Office has therefore set up the provision of a temporary logon system whereby each delegate can access their email and the internet from a public workstation on campus or at a hall of residence.  There is a charge for this service of £5 for up to two days or £10 for three to five days.  Our PC workstations are only operational Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm, however our hall workstations have twenty-four hour, seven-day access via a swipecard system.  Again the Conference Office will be happy to provide delegates with a swipecard on request.  We do not charge for this facility, but a deposit of £25 is required and repaid when the swipecard is returned to the Conference Office. Please ask at registration if you require this service.

Please send a completed form for each delegate with full payment/credit card details to arrive by 4 July 2008 (forms received after this date will be subject to a late registration fee) to:
