What is Socrates?
SOCRATES is an exchange programme within the European Union which allows students of member countries to spend a period of time studying in a different member country.
Why do a SOCRATES exchange?
There are a number of benefits for students who take up a SOCRATES exchange:

if you spend your whole year abroad you are exempt from paying fees |
What do you do while abroad?
Students follow the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Students will normally be expected to take approximately 60 ECTS (30 per semester), which equates to 120 Credits at UWA. We allow a wide choice of courses, thus giving students the opportunity to try new subjects or to build on knowledge acquired during their studies at home. However, we expect students to check the suitability of their scheme of study with Aberystwyth before signing up for courses.
Students on SOCRATES exchange programmes are normally exempt from writing an intercalary dissertation.

How do I apply?
Pick up an application form from the European Languages Office and return it to Mr Kader Izri, who you can also contact if you would like any further information.
Applicants will be informed as to whether they have been successful early in Semester Two.
