In my own courses at UWA, students whose essays are commendable are offered the chance to have them published on the Web. This page includes a selection of these from students past and present. In the MCS lists of links, these essays are marked with this symbol:

I advise my own students not to cite as references essays by undergraduate students. They may be good sources of ideas but they should not normally be used as authoritative sources of evidence. On the other hand, of course, you must never appear to present chunks of material by other students as your own work/words. Since we have had many offers of publication for some of these essays, publishers please note that you can check whether the student is still at the university by using this search function.
If the student is not listed you could try to contact them via our Alumni Office. Students whose essays are listed here are advised to keep in touch with us after they leave the university so that we can forward any publishing offers. Some students choose to leave their details here. Under the Data Protection Act we may not release contact details directly to publishers.
