Brief description
This module examines the development of American society and culture from the colonial period to the end of the nineteenth century, through a linked study of key historical topics and representative literary texts. Focusing on the making of national identity, we look at westward expansion, the creation of the American Republic, and other aspects of national history including slavery and the Civil War.
