Syllabus
This module is divided into a number of sections which describe background science and important applications relating to physical problems on disturbed land and associated ground and surface water. Engineering techniques for isolating contaminants will also be considered. Waste disposal issues will also be considered with particular emphasis on landfilling and problems associated with this means of waste management. However, incineration and composting will also be described in brief. Finally, basic approaches to land capability, habitat and soil resource surveys are described.
