Brief description
The module focuses on a variety of genres and authors representative of the turbulent world of Rome at the end of the Republic. Texts to be read include selections from Cicero's speeches, letters and philosophical works, together with a study of Catullus (personal poetry), Lucretius (didactic poetry), and Sallust (historical monograph).
No previous knowledge of Classical literature is required. All texts will be studied in translation.
