Brief description
This is a thin module extending over Semesters 1 and 2. The module will develop oral and aural skills and will consolidate the work carried out in GE10120
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, if you have made satisfactory progress, you will be able to:
- demonstrate your commitment to authentic German pronunciation
- carry on discussion and debate at a standard appropriate to level 1
- respond with clear understanding to spoken German
- demonstrate familiarity and confidence in the spoken application of German grammar
- give your own insights into key aspects of German society
- select media articles, audio and video tapes for discussion in class
- perform simple role plays in German
- make individual presentations in German
- demonstrate an improvement in fluency since entry
- make both supervised and independent use of video, language laboratory, satellite television to practice oral and aural skill
Progress in oral use of language is assessed continuously in class as well as by examination at the end of the year. All assessment is designed to measure your progress against learning outcomes at the appropriate level
