Brief description
This module considers the development of British politics over the course of the Second World War. It studies the impact of war on political beliefs and on party loyalties, on attitudes to leadership, to dissent, and to the role of politics in ordinary life. In particular it investigates the apparent 'leftward shift' over the course of the war and assesses the significance of this shift.
