Having followed this module a student should:

• describe the potential users and uses of financial statement data
• understand the financial accounting conventions
• know how assets and liabilities are usually valued
• be aware of the recording procedures and accounting policy choice issues
• know the techniques and limitations of ratio analysis
• be able to produce an analyst' report.

Aims
To provide a thoughtful understanding on the role of accounting in its wider managerial setting. The focus is on how managers use accounting information as opposed to how accountants prepare it.
