Aims
This module explores the responsibility of organisations for the sound management of their employees. Necessarily, a prime feature will be the rapidly changing context in which this occurs and the consequent revisions in personnel policy and practice that have been occurring in employing organisations.

Learning outcomes

To provide knowledge and understanding of the institutions, participants, processes and outcomes in Human Resource
Management as well as the contexts in which its management is practised and its theoretical foundations.
To require students to reflect on the conduct of the management of employment at both the organisational and the national
level. Consequently, they will develop awareness of productivity and labour market issues and evaluate their attitudes towards
those issues.
To develop and sharpen analytical skills involved in problem solving and decision-making in this field of management through
analysis of situations, the identification of constraints and possible outcomes (including suggestions of appropriate strategies).
