Brief description
Students pursuing vocational schemes require instruction in the preparation and presentation of written and oral material, time management and acquisition of work as well as other life skills. This module develops the skills necessary to retrieve and present information in a range of formats as well as carry out procedures to secure employment.

Outcome 1
Present material in a range of prescribed formats - word processed.
Performance criteria
a. Prepare a curriculum vitae (CV)
b. Write a letter of application

Actual job advertisements/descriptions from current and past sandwich year employers, specific to their subject area, ie Agriculture/Countryside Management/Equine Studies.
Outcome 2
Carry out procedures to secure employment and develop a career.
Performance criteria
a. Receive a job description and submit a CV
b. Simulated, video-ed interview by a final year student.

Retrieve information from a range of sources and interpret it in a variety of ways.

a. Carry out a literature review

Communicate effectively, including summarising the 1st year project.
