Aims of the module
This module addresses the mechanisation of crop and livestock production systems.

Syllabus / Curriculum design
The lecture course is visit/demonstration oriented with formal teaching consolidating on practical application. Several mechanised systems, such as forage harvesting, cultivation and spraying systems are broken down into their constituent parts, analysed and optimised. Farm buildings and farm waste systems are also examined in detail.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. Design/select a new or improved machine system/system element.
2. Manage machinery systems effectively.
3. Analyse mechanised system performance.
4. Design and specify an appropriate farm building/farm waste system.
