Aims of the module
To analyse the approaches and tools for strategic recreational planning.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:

i) prepare a strategic plan for recreation at a county level;

ii) assess the range of tools for plan making;

iii) assess the policies/strategies of organisations involved in regional planning for recreation;

iv) interrogate, use and evaluate databases for strategy formation.

Syllabus / Curriculum design
he module is delivered in two parts. Part 1 examines the rationale, techniques and tools for recreational planning. In Part 2, the module changes focus to examine practical examples of strategic planning. This draws upon research expertise both within and outwith the Institute.
