Brief description
The continued development of competence in the linguistic registers of business and current affairs, using prescribed texts and authentic material. A variety of linguistic exercises will be examined, including written presentation in Spanish.

This module continues the study of the linguistic registers of business and current affairs begun in module SP20310. Aimed primarily at students of Business studies, Accounting and Computer Science, the module is also required study for Single Honours Spanish students. It covers practical vocabulary in such areas as marketing and insurance, while use will be made also of authentic current affairs materials. The module aims to develop further practical skills, including the writing of letters, reports and summaries

Syllabus: 12 weekly classes for the study of the course book and other selected materials. 6 fortnightly classes, for which written assignments must be submitted.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the module:

a) have acquired a knowledge of the vocabulary both of current affairs and of technical vocabulary in such areas as finance, marketing and industrial relations;
b) will have had traning in producing summaries, reports and oral presentations, drawings on appropriate source material;
c) be capable of translating current affairs and similar material from Spanish
