Brief description
The module focuses on the creative and cognative processs that shape the evolution of an artwork. It encourages students to formulate and implement ideas, understand the interactive relationship between concept and form, define a framework of action leading to an executable programme of work.
Aims:
The module aims to enable you to:

concentrate your attention on the process of creativity

further your powers of visual conceptualization

develop a specific program of research and a research methodology

inculcate a self-reflective approach to creativity

learn from the example of peer and tutor practitioners

locate your work within or outside of historical and contemporary discourse.

create an interface between the practice, theory, and history of Art.

undertake a systematic inquiry within a prescribed framework

form and test hypotheses

apply methods and techniques appropriate to the subject in rigorous, highly-proficient, self-critical, and self-reflective ways

develop cognisance of contingent contexts and areas of knowledge (historical and contemporary) and deduce their application to the framework

document the process of origination in a way that is communicable to peers

justify and evaluate actions and decisions relating to process and product

produce a portfolio of artworks of professional competence.
