Brief description


Of particular interest to students of English, this module consists of an introduction to Greek and Roman ideas and literary genres, with particular emphasis on those areas of the Classical tradition which became important to English Literature. A previous knowledge of the Classics is not required.

Learning outcomes


At the end of the module, students will be able to:


- Demonstrate a knowledge of significant forms and genres in the literature of classical Greece and Rome
- Write about a range of set books in an informed and well-argued manner
- Write about important aspects of classical mythology in an informed and well-argued manner
- Demonstrate an ability to use and engage with a range of relevant information sources
