Brief description

Following on from GE11420 (a prerequisite), the module is designed to cater for the increasing number of students who, from 2002, will be entering university with an AS level in German. It is tailored to the specific linguistic competence of these students and it aims to develop their knowledge of the language to a level comparable with that of students who have followed the post-'A' level modules at Level 1, thereby stimulating the number of students who choose to follow an Honous degree in German.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module students should have good communicative skills in spoken and written German and a sound grasp of the structure of the language. Their level of competence (thanks to the additional tuition involved) should be on a par with those students who have completed the post-'A' level modules GE10120 and GE10210, and they should feel sufficiently confident to continue German at Honours level.
