Aims of the module
To provide students with the opportunity to research and present two seminars on agriculturally-related topics of their own choice.
Syllabus / Curriculum design
The module comprises 12 x 2 hr sessions each devoted to either two or three individual seminars. The students are briefed in Semester 1 and a timetable drawn up. Students choose two topics each and in a seminar present their reviews of these subjects in approximately 15-20 minutes, followed by general discussion of the topic.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will have gained the experience of:
i) researching and summarising specific topics of interest to them;
ii) presenting their summaries in the form of a seminar;
iii) submitting a written summary on their review of the subject;
iv) posing and answering questions following the seminar.
