Learning outcomes
Typically, by the end of this module, the student will be able:
- to demonstrate an increased understanding of the working practices of the Stage Management team.
- to employ a constructive, imaginative and creative response to the director's aims and guidelines.
- to reflect critically on their acquisition of specialist skills.
- to advance their interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Aims
- To apply the skills and methodology outlined in DR24310 by working as a member of the stage management team on an intensive practical project under the guidance and directorship of an experienced theatre practitioner.
- To learn how to respond to direction from both the staff director and members of the stage management team; and to work constructively, both 'inside' and 'outside' the rehearsal room, within the guidelines and given circumstances, towards the collective presentation of the project in performance.
- To keep an analytic record of work undertaken in the form of a working notebook and appropriate production paperwork.
Content
The course is practically based and demands an intensive commitment during the rehearsal, performance and post-production periods.
