Brief description

In this module students will read a variety of texts produced during one of the most revolutionary periods of English culture. Students will be introduced to both canonical texts from the mid-17th century and, also, will study less familiar texts and authors. The course is designed to introduce students to some of the possibilities and problems attendant upon reading texts produced in particular historical moments. A central concern of this module is to encourage students to think about the ways which 'history' is itself a textual product.
