Aims

Experience of the workplace is an essential component of vocational courses. Your employment prospects on completion are likely to be significantly improved as a result of gaining appropriate work experience. With the support and guidance of the Institute's Work Experience Co-ordinator and your degree scheme co-ordinator, you will be required to identify your own work experience needs and to seek and secure appropriate work placement.

The module requires you to undertake a period of work experience of at least 6 weeks, normally during the long vacation prior to the start of Part 2 (this usually means between the first and second year), within an organisation that will provide you with experience relevant to your degree scheme. All placements must be approved, before you commence, by the Work Experience Co-ordinator and your degree scheme co-ordinator.

NB
(i)   The Institute reserves the right to preclude students from registering on this module if their academic performance
   has been unsatisfactory.
(ii)   Students seeking to change their registration from this module to a different one at the start of the session would only be
permitted to do so where the placement had been unsuccessful through no fault of their own. Such cases would need
   the approval of the Dean.
