Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Describe the nature of farm management decision-making in a systems theoretical context and the potential application of soft systems methodology to analysing and developing farm businesses
2. Construct and analyse a set of financial statements
3. Identify the requirements when budgeting for businesses.
4. Identify the different techniques and resources available for budgeting.
5. Identify informational requirements of financial institutions in lending assessments.
Aims
Business budgeting, appraisal and investment are all essential aspects of management and necessary for successful business control. This module provides a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles involved in managing a business and incorporates analysing and solving business problems. In addition this module provides students with appraisal techniques essential for managers in controlling the business.
